(i) let no. of eraser sold be x
total loss = rs 10
10= loss by eraser - profit by pencil
10= (0.10x) - (35×1)
10= 0.10x -35
45=0.10x
x=450
so 450 erasers were sold that day

(ii) let no. of pencil be y
total profit = rs 25
25= profit by pencil - loss by eraser
25=( 1× y) - (100× 0.10)
25=y-10
35=y
so 35 pencils were sold that day

Explanation:

let no erasers be sold x

total loss rs 10

10 loss by eraser - profit by pencil

10 =(0.10x)-(35x1) 10. = (0.10x35)

45. =0.10x

x=450

so. 450 erases were sold that day

hope it helps you.......

thank you
