A shopkeeper gains Rs.2 on each pen and losses 60 paiseon each pencil. He sells 60 pens and some pencils losing Rs 30 in all. How many pencils does he sells? With explanation please

Answer:

no of pens sold = 60

price of pen = 120 rs

As he ended up losing 30 at end.

let's no of pencil sold is x.

then,

120-x(0.6)= -30

-x(0.6)= -30-120

-x(0.6)= -150

x(0.6)= 150

x = 150/0.6

x = 250

Hence he sold 250 pencil
