Solution:-

Let the CP be Rs. 'x'

Then the SP at 8 % profit = x + 8x/100 = 108x/100

And the SP at 8 % loss = x - 8x/100 = 92x/100

Now, according to the question.

108x/100 - 92x/00 = 28

16x/100 = 28

16x = 2800

x = 2800/16

x = 175

So, the CP is Rs. 175
