The initial price in January was Rs 28,350.

Explanation:

Given : A shopkeeper gives a discount of 10% once in 4 months.

If a man purchases an article in this scheme for  Rs.25515 in December,

Then let the actual price of the article be x.

After 10% discount , the price of the article = Actual price - 10% of actual price

= x- 0.10x= 0.90x  [10%=0.10 ]

According to the question , we have

0.9x=25515\\\\\Rightarrow\ x=\dfrac{25515}{0.9}=\dfrac{255150}{9}=28350

So , the actual price of the article=  Rs 28,350

Since the sale will occur after 4 months if it occurs in December.

And January comes just after December, So the initial price in January was Rs 28,350.

∴  The initial price in January was Rs 28,350.
