Answer:

Option 1 - 17

Step-by-step explanation:

Given : A shopkeeper has 5 red pens. x green pens and 8 black pens. If range of the data is a multiple of 7 and x is a two-digit prime number.

To find : The sum of digits of maximum possible value of x ?

Solution :

The two digit prime numbers formed are,

11, 13, 17, 19,.................89, 93, 97,

The numbers of red pen = 5,

Black pen = 8,

Also, the green pen = x,

Where, x is a two digit prime number,

5 + 8 + x is divisible by 7 As the range of the data is multiple of 7,

We have to find maximum value of x,

If x = 97,

5 + 8 + 97 = 110 is not divisible by 7,

If x = 93,

5 + 8 + 93 = 106 is not divisible by 7,

If x = 89,

5 + 8 + 89 = 102 is a multiple of 7,

So, The maximum value of x is 89.

The sum of digits of maximum possible value of x is 8+9=17.

Therefore, Option 1 is correct.
