Given :- A shopkeeper in Lucknow sold a water cooler to a consumer in Lucknow for ₹16,400 . Rate of GST is 12% .

To Find :- GST paid by the consumer ?

Solution :-

Let us assume that, the marked price of the water cooler was Rs. 100x .

So,

→ Marked price = Rs. 100x

→ GST paid = 12% of MP = (12 × 100x)/100 = Rs. 12x

then,

→ Selling price of water cooler = MP + GST paid = 100x + 12x = Rs. 112x

A/q,

→ 112x = 16400

dividing both sides by 112,

→ x = 146.42

multiplying both sides by 100,

→ 100x = Rs. 14642

therefore,

→ GST paid by the consumer = SP - MP = 16400 - 14642 = Rs. 1758 (Ans.)
