let the cost price be rupees 100.
then, marked price = rupees 120.
discount = 20% of mp
=20/100 × 120
=1/5×120
=1×24
=rupees 24

selling price =(mp) - ( discount )
= rupees (120-24)
=rupees 96

loss% =(100-96)%
=4%
hence, the shopkeeper gains 4%.

Hope this is helpful to us.
