cost of the article = X  

discount offered = X /2  

ends up with a loss of 48%  ( given)

∴ ( X - X/2 ) = 48

⇒(2X -X/2) = 48

⇒X/2=48

⇒ X = 2×48

⇒X =96

Hence the value of X will be 96.

[ 96 - 96/2]

=[96 - 96/2]

= [ \frac{96}{2}]

=48
