Given:

A shopkeeper mixes three tea bags priced at Rs 50 Rs 60 and Rs 100per kg.

To find: the ratio must to mix the bags in order to achieve the final price ₹80 perkg.

Solution:

Let the three variants be A, B, and C and let their cost per kg be Rs.60, Rs.75 and Rs.100 respectively.

The mean price falls between B and C.

Find out the ratio of A : C using alligation rule

\[\begin{array}{l}\frac{A}{C} = \frac{{100 - 80}}{{80 - 60}}\\ \Rightarrow \frac{A}{C} = \frac{1}{1}\\ \Rightarrow A:C = 1:1\end{array}\]

Find out the ratio of B : C using alligation rule.

\[\begin{array}{l}\frac{B}{C} = \frac{{100 - 80}}{{80 - 75}}\\ \Rightarrow \frac{B}{C} = \frac{4}{1}\\ \Rightarrow B:C = 4:1\end{array}\]

Understand that, C can be found by adding the value of C in step 1 and step 2 = 1 + 1 = 2.

The resultant ratio QA : QB : QC :: 1 : 4 : 2.
