Given: Cost price of variety 1 = Rs 35 per kg

Cost price of variety 2 = Rs 28 per kg

The selling price of mixture = Rs 36 per kg

The profit obtained on selling the mixture = 20%

Concept used:

Sum of the Cost price of two varieties = Cost price of mixture

Calculation:

Let A amount of variety 1 be mixed with B amount of variety 2 rice.

Cost price of mixture = 36 × 100/120 = Rs 30 per kg

35 × A + 28 × B

= 30 × (A + B) ⇒ 5× A

= 2 × B ⇒ A/B = 2/5

Alternate method:

Cost price of mixture = 36 × 100/120 = Rs 30 per kg Applying the process of alliation.

Ratio of the mixture = 2:5
