Given :

a shopkeeper offers two successive discount of 20% and 10% on an article whos marked price is 5000

To find :

its selling price

Solution :

⇛ M.P. = Rs 5000

First discount = 20% of Rs 2400

⇛ 20/100 x 5000

⇛ Rs 1000

Selling price after the first discount

⇛ 5000 - 1000

⇛ Rs 4000

Second discount = 10% of Rs 4000
