  • The Selling price=Rs.285
  • Two successive Discount
  • Discount ¹=5%
  • Discount ²=50%

  • Using formula here,

\small{\boxed{\red{\rm{SP=MP(\dfrac{100-D_1}{100})(\dfrac{100-D_2}{100}):}}}}

\sf{\implies 285=X(\dfrac{100-5}{100})(\dfrac{100-50}{100})}

\sf{\implies 285=X(\dfrac{95}{100})(\dfrac{50}{100})}

\sf{\implies 285=\dfrac{95*50*X}{100*100}}

\sf{\implies \cancel{4750}X=\cancel{2850000}}

\sf\purple{\implies X=600}

\sf\purple{\therefore marked\: price\:of\: article=Rs.600}

Given :-

  • Discount₁ = 5%
  • Discount₂ = 50% .
  • SP = Rs.285.

To Find :-

  • MP = ?

Solution :-

As One Method By Direct Formula is Told Already. Lets Try with Different Method .

Let MP = 10 .

→ 10(MP) ------- 5%(D) ----------- 9.5 (SP)

→ 10(MP) ------- 50%(D) ----------- 5 (SP)

___×______________________×___

→ 100(MP) ------------------ 47.5(SP)

______________________________

Now, as given SP is Rs.285. we can say That,

when SP is 47.5 , Our MP is = Rs.100

→ when SP is 1 , Our MP is = (100/47.5)

→ when SP is 285 , Our MP is = (1000*285)/475 = Rs.600 (Ans.)

Hence, Our Required Marked Price will be Rs.600.

Direct Formula :-

☛ MP = SP * (100 / 100 - D₁%) * ( 100 / 100 - D₂ ).
