Given:

A shopkeeper purchased 100 blankets at Rs 2000 each.

To find:

At what rate should he sells the remaining blankets so has to gain 14% for his whole.

Solution:

1) The cost price of the 100 blankets is ₹2000×100 = ₹200000

The shopkeeper have to maintain the 14% profit.

So the Selling price will be

  • 200000+ 14% 0f 200000
  • 200000 + 28000
  • ₹228000

2) According to the question

  • 10 blankets were sold at ₹1200
  • so the shopkeeper had ₹1200×10 = ₹12000

So the shopkeeper has to sell 90 blankets for 228000 - 12000 = ₹216000

The rate of each blanket is given by:

  • 216000/90
  • ₹2400

The shopkeeper sold the remaining blankets @ ₹2400 to gain 14% profit.
