Answer:

The shopkeeper will gain 10% profit.

Step-by-step explanation:

Cost price of 1 cup = Rs. 25

Cost price of 360 cups = Rs. 9000

Selling price of 1 cup = Rs. 33

60 cups were broken out of 360, hence the remaining cups will be = 360-60 = 300

Selling price of 300 cups will be = 300 x 33 = Rs. 9900

Profit = SP – CP = 9900 – 9000 = Rs. 900

Profit % = profit upon cp into 100

therefore  900 upon 9000 into 100 = 10%

Given: A shopkeeper purchased 360 cups for ₹25 each. 60 cups broke and the remaining cups were sold at ₹33 each.

To find: The gain or loss %.

Solution:

  • When the selling price is greater than the cost price then there is a profit but if the cost price is greater than the selling price there is a loss.
  • The shopkeeper buys 360 cups for ₹25 rupees each, so his cost price would be,

        360 * 25 = 9000

  • The shopkeeper breaks 60 cups. So, the number of cups left with him would be,

        360 - 60 = 300

  • Now, he sells each of these 300 cups for ₹33 each so his selling price would be,

        300 * 33 = 9900

  • Since the selling price is greater than the cost price, there is a profit.
  • The profit is calculated as,

        9900 - 9000 = 900

  • Now, the profit percent is calculated using the following formula,

        P(percent) = \frac{P}{C.P.} * 100

  • P% is the profit percent, P is the profit and C.P. is the cost price.

        P(percent) = \frac{900}{9000} * 100

                           = 10 percent

Therefore, the gain or profit percent is 10%.
