Answer:

Given :

A shopkeeper purchased a toy at a discount of 20%and sells it at Rs.9600and makes a profit of 20%.

FORMULA USED :

Marked price =CP+ Marked price

SP=Marked price -Discount

CALCULATION :

let marked price be=100x

=>Discounted price =marked price *(100 -discount )\100

=>Discounted price =100x *(80\100) =80x

Then, SP =80x * (200\100)=96x

According to the question ,the SP =9600

=>90x=9600

=>x=100

so, marked price =100* 100=10000

=> discount = 10000 *( 20\100) = Rs. 2000

therefore, The discount is Rs.2000

HOPE IT HELPS !!!!

Given: A shopkeeper purchased a toy at a discount of 20% and sold it for Rs9600. and made a profit of 20%.

To find The discount (in Rs) the shopkeeper got.

Solution:   The formula of Marked price and selling price are

                 Marked price = (cost price + markup)

                 selling price = (Marked price - discount)

Let the price marked be = 100x

According to formula =>  Discount = (Marked price x (100 - Discount) /100

                                                          = 100x X (80/100)

                                                          = 80x

                             and selling price = 80x X (120/100)

                                                          = 96x

as, The selling price is given in the question ie, 9600

  96x = 9600

       x = 100

so, Marked price  = 100 X 100

                              =   10000

Therefore Discount =   {10000 X (20/100)}

                                  =  2000 Rs

Hence discount the shopkeeper got = Rs 2000
