Given

  • Cost price (CP) = Rs 4560 /-
  • Selling price (SP) = Rs 5000 /-

To find

  • Profit

Solution

  • The shopkeeper purchased the article for 4560 and sold it for 5000, here 4560 is the cost price and 5000 is the selling price, we know if cost price is less than selling price or selling price is more than cost price, there shall be a profit, so we shall find the profit.

→ Profit = SP - CP

→ Profit = 5000 - 4560

→ Profit = 440

∴ The profit the shopkeeper gained is Rs 440 /-

  • We can also find the profit percentage using the formula.

→ P % = Profit × 100 / CP

→ P % = 440 × 100 / 4560

→ P % = 44000/460

→ P % = 95.65 % or 9.65%

∴ The profit percent of the shopkeeper on the article is 9.65 %
