Let the original marked price = 100

marked Price raised = 30%

30% of 100 = 30

after raising it by 30%, new marked price = 100+30 = 130
___________________________

40% discount is given on new marked price.

discount amount= 40% of 130 = 130 × 40/100 = 52

Selling price = 130 - 52 = 78
__________________________

Actual discount amount = 100 - 78 = 22

actual discount = discount/original price × 100

= 22/100 × 100

= 22%

Original discount is 22%
