↦280 = 112% (since he marks his price 12% above CP)

↦Rs.7.50 = 7.50 x 112÷ 280= 3%.

↦So he earns a profit of 12-3= 9% after allowing the discount.

Let c.p of our article 100

S.p will be 112

Profit%=12%

For article s.p=280 which includes profit,c.p=?

profit percentage will be

P%=(sp-cp)/cp

0.12=(280-c.p)/c.p

280/cp -1= .12

280/cp =1.12

280/1.12=cp

250=cp

But discount offered=7.5

So,s.p=280–7.5=272.5

So profit percentage={(sp-cp)/cp} *100

={(272.5–250)/250} *100

=(22.5/250 )*100

=9%
