Cost of one pencil = 5¼ = 21/4 = 5.25

Total cost of pencil = 446¼ = 1785/4 = 446.25

Pencils came in boxes of 15 each.

Number of boxes has he sold by the end of the day = ( Total cost of pencil ÷ Total cost of pencil ) × Pencils came in boxes

{~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~\implies \sf (446.25 ÷ 5.25 ) × 15}

{~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~\implies \sf 85  \times  15}

{~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~\implies \sf 1275}

  • Number of boxes has he sold by the end of the day is 1275.
