A shopkeeper sells a product at some loss. If he reduces the selling price of the
product by 5 percent, his loss increases by 4 percent. At what loss percent he sells his
product
Answers
Solution :-
Let us assume that, SP of the product is Rs.100 and Loss is x % .
so,
→ CP * (100 - Loss%)/100 = SP
→ CP * (100 - x) / 100 = 100
→ CP * (100 - x) = 10000
→ CP = Rs.{10000/(100 - x)}
now,
→ New selling Price = 95% of 100 = Rs.95 .
→ New loss % = (x + 4) % .
so,
→ CP * (100 - Loss%)/100 = SP
→ CP * {100 - (x+4)} / 100 = 95
→ CP * (96 - x) = 9500
→ CP = Rs.{9500/(96 - x)}
therefore,
→ {10000/(100 - x)} = {9500/(96 - x)}
→ 100 / (100 - x) = 95 / (96 - x)
→ 20(96 - x) = 19(100 - x)
→ 1920 - 20x = 1900 - 19x
→ 20x - 19x = 1920 - 1900
→ x = 20 % (Ans.)
Hence, he sells his product at 20% loss .
