Step-by-step explanation:

S.P = ₹1260

P = 40%

C.P = S.P multiply 100

( ÷ )over 100 + Profit%

= 1260*100÷100+40

C.P = ₹900

Given:

We have given the selling price of tricycle is 1260. and profit is 40%.

To Find:

We have to find the cost of the tricycle?

Step-by-step explanation:

  • We have given that a shopkeeper sells a tricycle for kids is Rs.1260 we can write it as

        S.P=1260

  • We have given the profit on that selling of tricycle is 40%.
  • Let the cost price of tricycle is x. And the cost price is denoted by C.P.
  • we know profit percentage is calculated by using the formula

       Profit\%= \frac{Profit}{C.P} \times 100

  • Now profit is given by the subtracting selling price to the cost price.

        Profit= S.P-C.P

  • Now put this in above equation we get

       Profit\%= \frac{S.P-C.P}{C.P} \times 100

  • Now we will put the values in the above equation as S.P=1260, Profit%= 40

       40=\frac{1260-x}{x} \times100

  • Now we simplify the above equation by cross multiplying the term we get

       40x=(1260-x)100

  • Now open the bracket and solve it

      40x=126000-100x

  • Now take the like terms together in the above equation

      40x+100x=126000\\140x=126000\\x=\frac{126000}{140} =900

Hence, The Cost price of a tricycle is Rs. 900
