Answer:

₹700

Step-by-step explanation:

Given,

A shopkeeper sells an article at a profit of 15%. Had he sold it for ₹21 more, he would have gained 18%.

To find,

The C.P. of the article

Procedure,

Important points =

  • Profit = 15%
  • Would be profit = 18% on selling at ₹21 more

Let the C.P. be x

profit \:  = 15\%

on \: selling \: the \: article \: at \:₹ 21 \: more \: gain  = 18\%

18\% - 15\% = 3\%

3\% = ₹21

 \therefore1\% =  \frac{21}{3}  \\ 1\% \: = ₹7

15 \% = ₹7 \times 15

15\% = ₹105

 \therefore \: profit \: is \: ₹105

x =  ₹\frac{100}{15}  \times 105

x =  ₹\frac{10500}{15}

x = ₹700

Therefore, the C.P. of the article is ₹700.
