A shopkeeper sells red fabric at a loss of Rs. 5 per metre and white fabric at a
profit of Rs. 6 per metre.
a) If the shopkeeper sells 7m of red fabric and 5m of white fabric in a day,
find his overall profit or loss for the day.
b) If the shopkeeper sells 30 m of white fabric and makes an overall profit of
Rs. 60 for the day, find how many metres of red fabric did he sell that day.

white = 6 × 5 = 30

30 + ( - 35 )

30 - 35

- 5 ( loss of 5 rs )

Let red fibres be x

30 × 5 = 150

150 - x = 60

x = 150 - 60

x = 110

110 / 5

= 22 metres of red fibres
