Answer
Let the CP be RS 100
When gain=15%; SP = (100+15)=RS 115
When gain = 20% ; SP=(100+20)=RS 120
Difference in the selling price of the fan= 120-115=RS 5
Applying unitary method:
When sold for RS 5 , CP = 100
When sold for RS 90, CP = 100/5*90= RS 1800
Hope it's correct.....^__^

shortcut process :-
percent gain => rupees gain
20%=>(90-15)= 75
4%=>15
100%=>375
cost price be 375 rs
another process
let cp be x
so firstly sp = x+15
now cp= x
secondly sp = x+ 90
now
x of 20%= (x+90)-(x+15)
or, x/5 = 75
or, x = 375
so cost price of the fan is 375 rs
percent gain => rupees gain
