The cost price of the watch is Rs.200.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given : A shopkeeper sold a watch at a profit of 12% . If he had sold it for 144 more he would have made a profit of 18%.

To find : The cost price of the watch ?

Let the cost price of the watch = x

A shopkeeper sold a watch at a profit of 12%.

The price is p=x+\frac{12}{100}\times x=1.12x

He sell the article for Rs. 12 more

The Selling Price is SP=1.12x+12

According to the question,

18=\frac{1.12x+12-x}{x}\times100

18=\frac{0.12x+12}{x}\times100

0.18x=0.12x+12

0.18x-0.12x=12

0.06x=12

x=\frac{12}{0.06}

x=200

The cost price of the watch is Rs.200.
