Suppose cost price is Rs. 100, then since he wants 10% profit, he should sell it at Rs. 110, but Rs. 110is after applying 8% discount.
So after giving discount on some Rs. xx, he should have Rs. 110. i.e.
x−8x100=110⟹x=110x−8x100=110⟹x=110
So he should mark the goods at Rs. 110 i.e. 10% more than cost price.
