Dialogue on the influence of television channel:

Apeksha: Hi Adyanth! It’s been long time, I haven’t seen around.

Adyanth: Hi Apeksha! Yes I have been busy with my final exams, so been studying hard.

Apeksha: So, you must be missing all entertainment…no games, no TV, no music….yeah?

Adyanth: Right…..but it’s okay. While I do miss my cricket and music, TV….I am not that keen. In fact, I hardly watch TV these days

Apeksha: Why?

Adyanth: Hmmm….nowadays the programs and channels on TV is really is pathetic. Violence, sex, and bad language is what is being shown on most channels.

Apeksha: But there are exceptions. Some channels add to our knowledge and education. Information programs and documentaries give us insight about nature, our environment and political happenings.

Adyanth: I agree. Still….. There are so many programs such as serials, be it any language, has positive influences on human thinking like Ramayana and Mahabharata, while several other serials have extremely adverse impacts too. The advertisements shown in between TV programs also impact us positively or negatively, while the reality shows are full of unwanted drama and false display of emotions and triggers the wrong message to the Audience. There are also music channels that screen erotic songs and romantic dances, in particular. These things spread their magic with ease to the younger generation, particularly the teenagers because their mental capacity is too tender to resist

Apeksha: Nevertheless, some educational programs, such as ' Discovery, National Geographic, etc, are available on news channels and on websites. The TV has become so strong that it plays a crucial role in shaping the mentality, character and personality of young people.

Adyanth: TV channels have adopted a policy of showcasing that which draws more and more young people to cheap, sensational programs. The television channels show terrorism, murder mysteries, human propensity to commit crimes, and certain other issues that definitely affect our generation today.

Apeksha: I guess this debate will keep going. Television channels do have their advantages and disadvantages…..

Adyanth: You are right…….this debate will never end…Anyways I must rush now and get back to studies. Will catch up with you later. Bye!

Apeksha: Bye…and all the best for your exams.
