Input: The set of data and instructions provided by a user to the computer is called an input. Input mechanism supports many devices such as keyboard, mouse, joystick, barcode reader, universal serial bus (USB) devices, hard disk and compact disks (CDs). Different input devices take data in different forms and send it to the computer memory.
Following is the list of different input devices used with computers:
- Keyboard
- Point and draw devices
- Scanning Devices
- Electronic card based devices
- Speech recognition devices
- Vision based devices
Output : Computer processess this input and presents results to the user. The result is called an output. Commonly used output devices are monitor and printer.

- Plotter
- Voice response
The output devices need to be connected with computer (with or without wire) in order to present the output to the users.
Storage devices: A piece of computer that stored a lot of information in small devices is called storage devices. Following list presents different storage devices:

- CD (Compact Disk)
- DVD(Digital Versatile Disks)
