Gondwana or the Gondwanaland was an old super-continent that included Africa, Madagascar, Australia, India, Arabia, South America and Antarctica. It was completely joined by Late Precambrian period, around 600 million years ago, and the initial step of its breakup occurred in the Early phase of the Jurassic Period. Eduard Suess a geologist from Austria, coined this term  Gondwanaland in connection with Upper Paleozoic and Mesozoic deposits in the Gondwana range of India that was alike to the corresponding period on Southern Hemisphere landmasses.
