Answer:

Explanation:

Burning of the Amazon forest is one of the major issues of 2019. This issue is of great importance because the Amazon forest covers 2.1 million square miles which provides the world with approximately 20% of its oxygen. A fire in the Amazon means, a problem in the air that we breathe. Its burning led to the loss in many trees and habitats for animals as well. This brings about a drastic change in the ecosystem. Many people believe that the Amazon burned due to human activities of clearing the lands for farming which is why the Southern Amazon basin ended up drying out.

Short Note on Amazon Rainforest Burning:

The 2019 Amazon rainforest wildfires season witnessed a year-to-year increase in fires happening in the Amazon rainforest and Amazon biome within Bolivia, Brazil, Peru, and Paraguay during that year's Amazonian tropical dry season.

The rainforest of Amazonia, the largest rainforest in the world was at risk of being totally burnt out. For over 16 days the rainforest, supplying almost 20 percent of the world's oxygen, had burned with trees and biodiversity.  In different areas in South America, including on the Atlantic coast and Sao Paulo, the biggest city in Brazil, Amazon rainforest fire impact was felt. Sao Paulo plunged into sudden darkness and the city was enclosed with a thick, smoky shell, and the rain that sprang down seemed like smoke. Sao Paulo is situated about thousands of kilometres away from the burning fire. While forest fires have been common in the Amazon during this time, since the southerly amazon is a dry season, the number of fires and their intensity have risen without precedent in 2019.

The worrying situation was that there was a massive decline in deforestation in the Brazilian Amazon at a time when the burning was increasing. The fire was most rapidly burning in Brazil's Amazon rainforest. Within Brazil itself in 2019, some 72,843 fires occurred, with the Amazonian rainforest being more than half. This shows an 80 per cent rise in fires during the same period in the year 2018. The Amazon rainforest fire could be an enormous blow in the global climate change fight according to scientists. Not only will the fire cause significant trees and biodiversity loss but excess CO2 emissions into the atmosphere.

Forest fires also release pollutants, such as nitrogen oxides, carbon monoxide, and non-methane organic compounds to the atmosphere, including toxic substances and other gasses. Amazon rainforest, known as the lungs of the world and supplying approximately 20 percent of the earth's oxygen, is important in slowing global warming. In the rainforest there are currently innumerable fauna and flora species. While changes in local ambient heat will have an immediate effect on the fire, a possible decrease in natural carbon is expected to occur in the long term.
