Deccan plateau is very old configuration of indian physiography.Deccan plateau is formed by cooling of long spread of lava.It is not only the source of various minerals but also support the agriculture especially cotton throgh black soil.Because of its geography it also enabled the distinct type of culture which is somewhat different than the north indian culture.

It is triangular in shape, and covers a large part of southern India. The land here is rocky and uneven. The narmada valley divides the Deccan plateau. At the large area of Satpura mountain. It is bound by western and eastern ghats. It covers parts of Madhya pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Mahrashtra, Karnataka, Telangiectasia, Anthracite pradesh and Tamil Nadu. There are number of river in the area. The Narmada, Tapi, Flow from east to west. The Mahanadi, Godavari, Krishna and Kaveri flow from west to east. This is because most of land in the Deccan plateau slopes from west to east.
