Began in the year 1921 the Gudem rebellion was an acknowledgement to the Non-Cooperation Movement. Launched by Alluri Sitaram Raju, this was a movement against the newly introduced forest laws in Andhra Pradesh. The tribal people of Andhra Pradesh announced Alluri Sitaram Raju as God's in-carnation for the reason; he could make reliable astrological forecasts and heal people. As the movement spread the rebels began attacking the police stations and used the tactics of guerrilla warfare for achieving Swaraj. As a result of this movement, the leader of the movement was imprisoned and hung in 1924.
