The great Indian desert lies to the west of the aravalli range.It also known as thar desert. It covers a major region of the state of rajasthan. It receives very low rainfall i.e. below 150mm per year and therefore it is a dry region.

Thar is known as the indian desert. It is situated at north west area of india. It is the world's 17th largest desert. Major portion of the desert is situated in India, while 20% is located in Pakistan. The desert is mainly dry with high winds causing the fast sand movement
