Right to express one's choice by voting is called Franchise. When the right to vote or franchise is given to every adult in a state irrespective of his or her gender, caste, religion, socio-economic and educational backward, etc. then it is called Universal Adult Franchise.

Merits of Universal Asult Franchise-

1) It is based on Political Equality.

2) It establishes true democratic government.

3) It makes government accountable or responsible to all citizens.

universal adult franchise means all citizens who's age is above 18 have the right to vote.in other words all citizens except lunatics,minors,aliens,bankrupts,crimina... etc.are entitled to vote without any discrimination on the basis of religion,caste,language etc.
