They instill in the player a spirit of self-confidence, self-reliance, discipline, justice, fair play and patriotism. Games provide us with recreation and enjoyment. Games are very essential for students but they are neglected in schools. Every parent does not have high opinion about games and they want their children to devote more time to studies. India lacks funds, and proper training facilities are not provided to the players. Sports bring rich dividends to sportsman. The government has formulated a New National sports Policy. Effective measures should be taken to popularize, and encourage participation in games and sports.

The value of sports is very great. To enjoy good health we should take part in sports.
Sports are essential for the development of body and mind. We cannot do any work if we have a poor health.
Sports teach us many qualities. When we take part in sports, we have to obtain some rules. So, sports teach us discipline which is very useful in practical life.
Sports also teach us self - control. A good sportsman does not exult in victory. He does not lose heart when he is defeated.
Sports also develop your social skills as you interact with your opponents as well as the teammates. It improves one’s ability to work in a team giving him/her an exposure to the team culture, which is beneficial in professional life as well. Even the mere spectators of a sport interact with each other and support their respective teams by shouting and cheering; resulting in overall happiness and a good social behavior.
But, sometimes sports became the chief interest of life. When students make sports the chief object of their life , they ruin their career. They must strike a balance between sports and studies.
