The kerala floods have proved to be a topic of great concern for the residents of Kerala.
Recently, flood disasters have been taking place in the state of Kerala, situated in India due to overflow of water caused by monsoon rainfall.
In August 2018, these floods targeted this city in which it not only disturbed the lives of the people but also resulted in collapsing bridges at Nelliyampathy Village and destruction of residential houses, workplaces and restaurants, like the recent one in Paravur. It left behind a death toll of at least 324 people. People would get trapped in compromising places as they called out for help.
The people of Kerala received help through aid and community service workers throughout this phase of natural destruction. Clean up operations would be carried out as people clean up after this flood.
The government decided to set up control rooms and coordinate these cleaning processes. The civic bodies were playing role of supervision in this scenario as teams of plumbers and electricians would gather round to help the people.
Haritha Kerala Mission, a mission integrating waste management, organic farming and water resource management also aimed at helping in the coordination of the cleaning process.
The government could possibly set up high pressure pumps in different areas to speed up the clean up process, keeping in mind as to how to protect lives on such natural disasters in the future. Because, contingency plans do not go to waste.
