Before independence, India was ruled by the British who came to India as mere traders but returned as rich businessmen. But in 19 s India got the feeling of nationalism and fought for teir freedom. Gandhiji and his followers and many other people are the reason for us now living freely. Now we can have an independent life because of them. India got independent in 1947.Now India is a secular democratic republic.
