Maria Sharapova was born on 19 April 1987 to Yuri and Yelena in Russia. she was very fond of playing the game of tennis and her rapid ascent in a fiercely competitive would began at very young age. she was taken to the US by her father to enable her reach her chosen goal. Separating from her mother wasn't easy for the little girl, who understood that life wasn't a bed of roses. She had to overcome a lot of difficulty and make many sacrifices during her journey who she did with out losing her self confidence and focus.

Maria Sharapova went to United States when she was hardly ten. She went there to get training in Tennis. Here father Yuri went with her. Her mother Yelana, could not accompany her due to visa restrictions. Her father worked hard but was able to earn only as much as to keep Maria's tennis training going. In the absence of mother Maria felt lonely and homesick. She would sleep by 8 pm. But the other tennis trainees, who were senior to her, would come at 11 pm. They would wake her up and ask her to tidy the room. All this was heart breaking. But Maria did not feel depressed. Due to this humiliation and ill-treatment Maria became more determined and mentally tough. This quality enabled her to achieve grand success in Tennis. On 22nd August, 2005, she became number one tennis player in the world.
