Kinetic energy = ½mv²
= ½× 0.5×500²
=>½×0.5×250000
=>0.5×125000

Kinetic energy of shot = 62500J or 6.25× 10⁴ J
By using equation,
v² = u²+2as
0 = 500² + 2×a×0.5
0 = 250000 + a
-250000 = a
Average retardation is 250000m/s²
Average acceleration is -250000m/s²
Average resistive force = mass×acceleration
=>0.5×(-250000)
=>-125000N
Average resistive force = 125000N or 1.25×10^5 N
