There are three types of changes solid ,liquid and gas.

Solids - In solids, the particles are tightly packed , and hence the intermolecular space is very small. The intermolecular force of attraction in solids is very strong .

Liquids- The molecules of liquid are loosely packed compared to solids. Intermolecular space in liquid is more than solids.The intermolecular force of attraction in liquid is weaker than solids .

Gases- In gases, molecules are very loosely bound. Therefore the intermolecular force of attraction in gases is very weak (negligible).
