let x, y and z be the sides of the triangle....

we know that in a isosceles triangle 2 sides are equal,

so,x2 + y2 = z2 (x=y=6cm)

   36 + 36 = z2

   72=z2

   z= \sqrt{72} cm

   z= 6\sqrt{2} cm

hope this helps.....
