The constitution of India states that India is a secular country, i.e., India has no official religion. Everybdoy is free to practice their own religion.

In some places, the constitution may state that the religious beliefs of people must be put at a high standard or, a higher importance. Wearing a turban is extremely important for Sikh people as it is a part of their culture and so, to not offend their culture, the government gives a pass to Sikhs from wearing helmets while riding on two-wheelers since Sikh people would have had to remove their turbans to wear helmets.
