When silver is exposed to the atmosphere for a long period of time it gets Tarnished.
It reacts with atmospheric Hydrogen Sulphide forming Silver Sulphide.
Equation:

When it is rubbed with tooth paste the thin layer of Silver Sulphate corrodes.
