Magnesium is the Metal X

Explanation:

a) Magnesium, Mg. is the white metal in the form of ribbon which on ignition forms white powder.

(b) Magnesium oxide, MgO is the powder being formed.

(c) Oxygen (of air),O_2  is the Substance with which MgO combines.

(d) Magnesium hydroxide, Mg(OH)_2is the metal Z & it is used as antacid to relieve indigestion.

(e) The Balanced chemical reaction is -

2Mg + O_2 --> 2MgO

Magnesium + Oxygen --> Magnesium Oxide
