Answer:

a.vibrations made in two minutes=60

2 minutes=2×60=120seconds

frequency=vibrations made in one second

=60/120

=0.5 hertz(frequency of vibration)

b..time period=1/frequency

= 1/0.5

=2 seconds

Answer:

(a)Frequency-0.5Hz

(b)Time period-2 seconds.

Explanation:

  • The total time required by the pendulum to complete one oscillation is called its time period(T).
  • And the inverse of the time period is called the frequency(f) of the pendulum.

From the question, we have that the pendulum completes 60 oscillations in two minutes. So, the time required to complete one oscillation is,

T=\frac{2\times 60}{60}         (1 minute=60 seconds)

T=2 \ seconds      (1)

And frequency is given as,

f=\frac{1}{T}     (2)

So,

f=\frac{1}{2}

f=0.5Hz    (3)

Hence, the frequency and time period of the simple pendulum is 0.5 Hz and 2 seconds respectively.
