A simple pendulum has a frequency of 6
vibrations per second. An observer displaces
the pendulum at rest and simultaneously fires
a gun. He hears an echo from a wall when the
pendulum completes 10 vibrations. Find the
distance between the wall and the observer if
the speed of sound is 330 m s-1 in air.

I want this to be solved in copy

Explanation:

Time taken for 1 vibration = 1/5 s

Time taken for 8 vibrations = 8/5 s

We know,

2d = vt

Therfore,

D= vt/2 [where d= distance between the observer and the cliff]

V = velocity of sound

T= time taken for the sound to go and return

D = (340 * 8 / 5*2) m

D = 272 m

So the distance between the cliff and observer is 272
