A Simply supported beam of length 6 metres carries a udl of 20KN/m throughout its length and a point of 30 KN at 2 metres from the right support. Draw the shear force and bending moment diagram. Also find the position and magnitude of maximum Bending moment.

Answer:

The uniformly distributed load can be substituted by a concentrated load acting in the centre of gravity of the UDL. The total load on beam is the UDL multiplied by the length of the beam, i.e. 5 kN/m × 8.00 m = 40 kN.
