A site is contaminated by gasoline due to underground storage facility. The soil contaminated is stocked in piles and is to be treated by the bioremediation. The feasibility study determined the optimum C:N:P molar ratio to be 100:10:1. Estimate the amount of Trisodium phosphate (NaPO4 . 12H2O) (as the P source) (in kg) needed to remediate the impacted soil. Use the following assumptions in your calculation:
• Initial mass of gasoline in the piles = 158 kg
• Formula of gasoline (assumed) =Heptane, C7H16
• The amounts of N and P naturally occurring in the excavated soil are insignificant.
• One-time nutrient addition only.
