A sixth grader moves down the hall at 1.2 m/s. When he sees a bunch of eighth-graders coming, he begins to run. After 3.2 s, he is moving at 3.6 m/s. What is his acceleration??

Answer:

Initial velocity = 1.2 mps

Final velocity = 3.6 mps

Time elapsed = 3.2 secs

Acceleration = (Final velocity – Initial velocity)/Time

Acceleration = (3.6–1.2)/3.2 = 2.4/3.2 = 0.75 metre per second square

Hope this helps you :)
