A slate is 30cm long and 25cm wide. It is surrounded by a wooden frame of width 2.5cm all around. John coloured the frame do not consider the thickness of the frame.Find the area of coloured frame

Area of Slate = l x b

                      = 30 x 25

                       = 750 cm square

Area of Slate with Wooden Frame = l x b 

                                                       = (30 + 2.5 + 2.5 ) x (25 + 2.5 + 2.5)

                                                        = 35 x 30

                                                        = 1050 cm square 

Area of Wooden frame/ colored portion = A ( Slate ) - A ( Slate with wooden frame )

                                     = 1050 - 750

                                     = 300 cm square
